The Bechdel Fest (2023) was a series of events I programmed for The Gate Theatre around the production of Fun Home: the musical. This included panel discussions on queer writing, queer families, and lesbian representation in popular culture, a lesbian and queer walking tour of Dublin 1 in collaboration with Dr. Mary McAuliffe, and an online interview with Alison Bechdel.
Utopia (2021) was a festival I co-curated at the National Concert Hall, Dublin, in collaboration with Conner Habib, emerging from our Utopia Ireland project. The festival included an improvised concert featuring multiple musicians (David Le’aupepe (Gang Of Youths), Gemma Doherty (Saint Sister), David Kitt, MayKay, Daoirí Farrell, Rory Friers (And So I Watch You From Afar), Izumi Kimura, with Ben Castle as MD), a live rap cypher event, an evening exploring the work of John Moriarty, an 8-hour chill out room experience in collaboration with Kate Butler, Don Rosco, and No Place Like Drone, and a live podcast event titled Everyone United with Conner Habib and Andrea Horan.
OneTwoOneTwo (2012-2014) was a music documentary film festival I started with my friend Cillian McDonnell in 2012 at the Light House Cinema in Dublin screening classics and premieres. In 2014, we also brought OneTwoOneTwo to Other Voices in Derry.
I sat on the Board of Directors of GAZE International LGBT Film Festival Dublin for four years until 2014. GAZE is a highly regarded film festival running for over two decades, and a key event in the LGBT arts calendar in Ireland. As a board member, I worked mostly in an advisory and planning capacity on communications, press, design and online strategy.
2014
Hussey Riot was a one-off warehouse party in a large warehouse studio in Dublin city centre, devised and produced by myself and Vickey 'Ragin' Curtis. With guest DJs, a hero room decorated with feminist icons, and a 40-foot Beyonce video installation, we created an epic BYOB queer party for one night only.
2012 - 2013
DIVE was a series of queer club nights I produced up with my buddy Vickey 'Ragin' Curtis. We ran it in the basement of the Lower Deck bar in Portobello in Dublin. Someone once described it as as a lesbian frat house party, and I think that's a pretty accurate description.
2011 - 2012
Bitches Be Crazy was a series of queer warehouse parties I was the resident DJ at, as well as designing the logo. Beginning in a music studio in the south inner city, the party moved to a much bigger warehouse space in the north inner city, then an old ballroom gaining legendary status in a short amount of time before the shutters closed.
2008 - 2010
Soundcheck was a club night I ran at SPY on South William Street with my friends Sarah Fox and Fionn Kidney. The club night ran for two years, and had one of the most diverse crowds and music policies in town, with a strong focus on fostering new DJ talent.
